I support councillors Basil Cameron and Cate Coorey who voted against the $14m plus tender to a Queensland-based construction company (who else) for the so-called Byron bypass.
The light Greens block, the two Labor, and Hunter should hang their heads in shame to vote on this fiasco and wanton destruction of parts of Cumbebin Swamp.
This so-called bypass that Simon and his mates are so thrilled about will go down in the history books of Byron Bay as the best disaster since the white-shoe brigade invaded what was once a nice little town circa 1979.
RIP what’s left of Cumbebin Swamp and natural surrounds; even Mullum is starting to gag under the weight of gold being piled onto it. Biobanking must have been invented by the developers!
