Bob Maughan, Byron Bay
My name is Bob Maughan and this is my story;
Months ago, I wrote that I was living in a ghetto, with drug addicts, mental health patients and homeless people. I refuse to pay my rates.
Well, all good on the ghetto, but now I live across the road from a construction site five-and-a-half days per week. There are trucks, graders, forklifts, rollers, water trucks and concrete trucks at all times of the day.
On Monday 1 June at 7am, at least 20 double-B trucks were dumping rocks and graders were moving them. The noise was SO LOUD. When is this going to stop? (Supposedly last January.)
This ^*%*^# mayor we have is bullshit! In my 45 years in the Bay I have never seen a Council mess our town up like it has now.
This bypass, in my opinion, will not work, and the money that’s been spent is outrageous!
West Byron must not happen, the locals know that, it’s just commonsense.
It’s all about money. Somerset and Burns Streets are a mess with all this traffic.
I am refusing to pay my rates again. As I write this at 7.30am four trucks have just pulled up. Another Zen day!
I wonder how they would feel if it was happening at their front door?
PS Council sent me a message saying if I didn’t pay my rates they would charge me back rates of approx $40,000.
Ed note: Bob Maughan would like to clarify that she has always paid her rates.
