I’d like to thank whoever decided to reprint John Donne’s beautiful poem ‘No Man is an Island’ on the Backlash page. I don’t know whether it was meant to be a subtle observation of our community’s recent brush with the pandemic but it served as such anyway.
Great literature transcends time and Donne’s message is so pertinent today that I can even forgive the 17th-century accepted practice of overlooking women.

For four decades The Echo has printed the stories some people loved, some people hated, and some pretended not to read. If you want us to keep telling the truth, the real truth, not the sugar-coated version. We’ll need your support to keep the presses rolling.
