Protesters at the site of the new 5G tower upgrade at Lennox Head this morning say that the work proposed to commence this afternoon is illegal.
The site, at the water tower on North Creek Road at Lennox Head is where technicians are currently waiting for a cherry picker to arrive to upgrade the tower.
Earlier this morning police arrived to speak with protesters and there are around 15 people locking arms blocking the cherry picker entry, with thousands more being called to arrive with updates coming soon via BayFM and local community group social media pages.

Protesters, who also have a car blocking the entry point, say that Telstra Regional manager Michael Marom is at the site and that the tower location is untested and experimental and they are concerned that radiation will impact the water tank and water quality.
Members of the group say that the 5G upgrade was confirmed via email last Wednesday by Telstra to the Northern Rivers for Safe Technology admin.
They say community members have been watching the tower for the past five days and that this morning the technicians arrived to proceed with the upgrade.
