Election week sees Vanessa Ekins doing her blocky

Enjoying a few precious minutes break in an election week is a real luxury and Lismore mayoral candidate and current Mayor Vanessa Ekins managed to fit an Echo interview in between her TAFE Auslan course and the pre-poll station on Woodlark Street.

Firefighters receive lifetime membership

During the 2019–20 Black Summer fires, we were reminded what a vital and important role the volunteers of the Rural Fire Service (RFS) play both in fighting fires, and bringing the community together.

A new case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in the Casino area of Richmond Valley Local Government Area (LGA) in the 24 hours to 8pm 2 November,  and is currently under investigation.

‘There have now been 125 total cases in NNSWLHD since 16 June,’ said Wayne Jones, Chief Executive Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSWHD).

‘Even if you are fully vaccinated you should get tested and isolate immediately if you have even the mildest of COVID-19 symptoms – a slightly runny nose, a scratchy or sore throat or generally feeling under the weather,’ he said.

There are more than 500 COVID-19 testing locations across NSW. Find a clinic at COVID-19 testing clinics or contact your GP.

We encourage people to get vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as they are able to. Find bookings at the Australian Government’s COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic Finder, or you can also call Health Direct on 1800 571 155 for assistance to book.

You can find the mobile vaccination clinic schedule for the Northern Rivers on the Northern NSW Local Health District website.

  1. As evidenced in countries like Japan, high vax rates does not stop a Covid wave, just check out the Curve after japan hosted the Olympics. So lets set the expectation that this first case is the first of many as our region has been opened up. Check out the number of flights landing in Ballina.

So make sure you have your Covid early treatment pack ready at home so that when you are sent home to isolate you will be able to treat yourself at home are avoid having to go to hospital and avoid long Covid, regardless of Vax status.

Note that Japan’s record spike after the Olympics has flattened and i suspect it has something to do with announce made by Dr Ozaki that opened the door for Covid treatment.. DuckDuck: “japan august covid treatment August Dr. Ozaki”
