Now that the Albanese Labor government has been elected, we presume they will follow through with their commitment to sign and ratify the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW).
‘Nuclear disarmament is core business for any Labor government worth its name’ – Albanese 2018.
With the backing of over 100 parliamentarians, it is VITAL, that Australia has representation as an observer, at the first meeting of state parties to the TPNW, on 21–23 June in Vienna, as well as the fourth Conference on the Humanitarian Impacts of Nuclear Weapons on 20 June.
Please raise this with your representatives now.
There are more urgent things to spend money on than militarism, with such a huge global footprint.
In determination.
You know what Ukraine wished it hadn’t given up? It’s nuclear weapons!
If you don’t have nukes, you need a big expensive carbon burning army to compensate.
Then again, if we ratified the treaty, we would have to boycott Israel as they have 400+ illegal nuclear weapons and won’t sign the treaty. But we and everyone else would be bound by the treaty to bankrupt Israel, for the good of the planet.
Such a huge global footprint ? Need for the reminder.. if Australia disappeared of the face of the
Planet today if would not make one single bit
Of difference to global warming..
