A crash on the Pacific Motorway heading north from the Byron Shire on Monday morning reduced traffic to a single lane around 11am.
Local police said emergency services including Tweed Byron officers, NSW Ambulance and NSW Fire and Rescue were still on scene at time of reporting.
Byron police said they didn’t yet have any more information besides that announced on the NSW Live Traffic website.
The website was reporting a two-vehicle crash near Tyagarah Road and heavy traffic backed up to shortly before the Hinterland Way roundabout.
Drivers were advised to allow for extra time.
Roadworks were also still happening on the highway in the leadup to the St Helena tunnel heading north not long before the roundabout.
Most Queensland school students were due to return to classrooms today after the state’s official holidays ended on Sunday, with NSW school holidays starting at end of day Friday 12 April.
