Detours will be in place overnight for southbound traffic around Tugun bypass at Tweed Heads starting Sunday, May 12.
‘Motorists are advised of changed overnight traffic conditions on the Pacific Motorway, Tweed Heads to carry out essential asphalt maintenance work on the Tugun bypass between Kennedy Drive and the NSW and Queensland border,’ said a spokesperson for Transport for NSW.
‘To minimise the impact to motorists, work starting Sunday, May 12 will be carried out from 8pm to 6am Sundays to Thursdays until Friday, May 31, 2024 weather permitting.’
Detour
Southbound traffic on the Pacific Motorway will detour via Tugun Currumbin Road (Exit 95) onto the Gold Coast Highway. Southbound traffic rejoins M1 Motorway from Gold Coast Highway at the on-ramp, with an additional alternate short duration detour (limited nights) via Tweed Heads West (Kennedy Drive on-ramp) that is based on moving work locations.
Oversize and over mass vehicles are encouraged to contact Transport for NSW for further information.
Motorists are advised to allow at least ten minutes additional travel time for the diversions, drive to the conditions and follow the direction of signs and traffic control.
‘Transport for NSW thanks motorists for their patience during this time.’
