Permalympics

Robyn Francis taught Costa Georgiadis permaculture in 1987 in Sydney when he was still a clean-shaven university student! (He mentions it in his nook, Costa’s World). And Costa will be getting into the full swing of events throughout the weekend and will MC the infamous afternoon of Permalympics on Sunday, May 26 that will include gumboot throwing, bamboo javelin, and the hilarious bedlam of the no-dig garden relay.

Everyone is encouraged to dress up for Sunday’s Family Fun Day so wear a fancy dress, headdress, or masks and if you’re well dressed enough you might get one of the prizes being handed out by Costa in his gnome costume. The day will conclude with live music.

Designed as a permaculture education centre and demonstration farm Djanbung Gardens is acclaimed internationally as place of excellence and has featured in numerous books and documentaries. The gardens receive visitors and groups from around the world and have trained thousands of people from all continents, giving rise to hundreds of significant projects internationally. Djanbung Gardens is the home campus of Permaculture College Australia, non-profit community organisation conducting the training and community programs at the gardens.

The Anniversary Weekend celebrations commence at 10am both days and the café will open 10am-4pm with delicious refreshments, lunches and local coffee. Entry is by donation. Djanbung Gardens is conveniently located at 74 Cecil St Nimbin, just a few hundred meters passed the showground.
