When you are deciding who to vote for in the upcoming elections you might be wondering what candidates stand for. Mandy Nolan will be talking to former Greens leader Bob Brown in Murwillumbah on Friday, February 21 to look at the issues Mandy will be working on if she is elected for the federal seat of Richmond in the upcoming election.
Environmental leader Bob Brown will deliver a keynote address and join a panel discussion with Greens candidate for Richmond Mandy Nolan, journalist Mick O’Regan and Ballina MP Tamara Smith about protecting native forests, wildlife and strengthening environmental laws.
‘With the threat of Dutton sending power prices nuclear while vying with Albanese for more coal mines, gas fracking, and native forest destruction, Mandy Nolan is the sane, good alternative for the voters of Richmond,’ said Bob Brown.
‘I admire her strong, caring nature and look forward to backing her campaign. Schoolchildren could tell those in Labor and the Coalition that ending native forest logging is the cheapest and easiest way to help offset both global warming and the biodiversity crisis.’
1.8 per cent swing
To win the seat the Greens need a 1.8 per cent swing towards the Greens which would see them take the seat from sitting Labor member Justine Elliot.
‘This region is very special to Bob, with some of the world’s most beautiful and ancient forests, and most resilient communities, who in recent years have survived devestation of floods and fires,’ said Mandy Nolan.
‘I’m thrilled that Bob Brown is visiting Murwillumbah to support my campaign. I’m looking forward to serving this community in Canberra and fighting to deliver strong national environmental laws and end native forest logging.’
