Police have issued a public appeal for information the alleged serious assault of a man in Byron Bay Tuesday morning.
Officers say they were called to Jonson Street in Byron Bay around 9.35am Tuesday, 15 July in response to an altercation.
Police at the scene were told two men were involved in an altercation before one allegedly assaulted the other with a rock.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a 28-year-old man at the scene for head injuries before he was airlifted to the Gold Coast University Hospital.
Police on Wednesday said he was in a serious but stable condition.
A 37-year-old man arrested at the scene was also in hospital, under police guard, for treatment of minor injuries.
