Local kombucha maker Jake Miller grew up in the house behind Santos Organics in Mullumbimby and remembers jumping over the fence to play in the garden and enjoy a few carob treats. Now he is coming together to reinvigorate the Santos garden with the launch of the free Santos Sessions – bringing together people, local music, nourishing food, conscious business, and shared community values with the first event on Thursday, 4 June from 2pm.
They will also have rising Australian musician Katie Milea playing from 4pm to 8pm.
The event will also launch Maintaining Eden cafe at Santos which is under new management, and is looking to take place at the beginning of each season.
‘We are inviting people back into our Santos garden so it once again becomes the centre of the community, a meeting place, a place for people to engage,’ Rob Baldwin, General Manager of Santos Organics told The Echo. ‘We are looking to bring the local community together to support each other.’
With great food, drinks, and spirit, Jake from North Wall Kombucha, and Maintaining Eden cafe are inviting everyone to come and engage with community to reconnect and celebrate local music, food, creativity and culture throughout the year.
Having grown up with homemade kombucha on the bench as the go-to drink, it was when Jake and his family were back living in Brunswick Heads that he began experimenting with making kombucha. Now he is supplying his locally made kombucha throughout the Northern Rivers.
‘Santos Sessions feels like a really natural collaboration,’ said Jake. ‘It’s about bringing together local music, great food and good people in a way that supports the wider Northern Rivers community while creating something people genuinely want to be part of.’
