In reply to your comments at the end of my letter (Echo 16 September) I will repeat the words of my father: ‘The law is an ass.’
The Native Title Act does not sit comfortably over the True Lore of Country.
While certain groups have been formally recognised as Native Title Holders, other clan groups in the area of the caldera surrounding Wollumbin also hold rights, interests and responsibilities as traditional custodians. It is important that they are also included in consultation and decision making.
In the case of Wallum it is clearly ludicrous that decisions are made by justices who have never set foot on the place they are judging on. This is clearly absurd.
As I said last week, if we are to come to a place of listening to Country; to people who belong to Country, we need to allow for these words to have meaning.
The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
This may take some further time, patience and humility to sort out.
To come together, sit on the ground and listen to each other.
So help me God.
‘Truth is supreme and nothing in the universe is more important than truth’ – Shri Mahavatar Babaji.

For four decades The Echo has printed the stories some people loved, some people hated, and some pretended not to read. If you want us to keep telling the truth, the real truth, not the sugar-coated version. We’ll need your support to keep the presses rolling.
