A small bushfire is burning in Stokers Siding, but authorities say it is being controlled.

According to the Fires Near Me the 33 hectare fire is burning in bushland near Forrest Way.

The threat level has been placed at ‘Advice’ meaning that a fire has started, there is no immediate danger, and those living nearby are asked to stay up to date in case the situation changes.

Koonyum Range

Meanwhile, hazard reduction burning is taking place at Koonyum Range in the Byron Shire.

The 14 hectare blaze is also under control and is being managed by the National Parks and Wildlife Service.

The start of the bushfire season on September 1 has seen a small number of bush and grass fires break out across the state, and the commencements of a series of hazard reduction burns.
