Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.

Police and medical teams were called to Tyagarah yesterday after reports of a mid-air collision over the airfield.

Police say they were called to the Tyagarah Airfield about 6.45pm yesterday (Thursday 14 January 2021.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked by Ambulance New South Wales at 7.30pm with initial reports that two parachuters had collided during the early evening jump.

NSW Ambulance Paramedics and the Helicopter Critical Care Medical Team treated and stabilised a 35-year-old male who broke his leg after colliding mid-free-fall with a fellow parachutist after a 10,000 feet jump.

Both divers opened their chutes and both landed safely at Tyagarah, however, the man further aggravated his already broken leg upon landing.

He was airlifted to GCUH in a stable condition for further treatment.

The other jumper was a 42-year-old man who was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
