The Goldner String Quartet has widespread and longstanding recognition for excellence, as not only Australia’s pre-eminent string quartet but as an ensemble of international significance, favourably compared with the best in the world. Launched for the 1995 season, and still retaining all four founding members, the Goldner String Quartet’s stability of membership is enjoyed by very few ensembles.
The members of the Goldner String Quartet are: Dene Olding on violin; Dimity Hall also on violin; Irina Morozova playing viola; and Julian Smiles on cello.
Highlights of the 2012 season include concerts in Victoria for Musica Viva’s ‘Countrywide’ program, along with festival appearances in the Huntington Estate Music Festival, Australian Festival of Chamber Music and at Music in the Hunter. Described by Musica Viva’s artistic director Carl Vine as ‘our favourite chamber group’, the quartet also performs a five-concert series for Musica Viva’s ‘Coffee Concert’ program throughout the year.
Take the opportunity to see this wonderful quartet this Saturday at the A&I Hall in Bangalow.
