A report is being prepared for the Coroner concerning the death of a 39-year-old Rachel Johnston near Lismore in November.
Police she may have died up to five days before her body was found in bushland off Ballina Road on November 9, when an investigation was initiated.
Ms Johnston was originally from Port Macquarie and more recently had been staying in the northern rivers area.
While investigators are still awaiting the final results of the post mortem examination, interim results indicate her death is not suspicious.
Police have been speaking with friends and relatives of Ms Johnston as part of their investigation.
They are appealing for anyone who may have seen a woman on the side of Ballina Road, near the intersection of Kadina Street, in the early hours of November 4, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
