Two NSW Ambulance paramedics have escaped uninjured but their vehicle was damaged in a rock attack on the M1 motorway near Hastings Point on Saturday evening (October 22).
Police say that the incident occurred at about 9.30pm, when the ambulance was travelling south along the motorway.
As it travelled under the Round Mountain overpass an object, believed to be a rock, smashed the passenger side of the front windscreen causing it to shatter.
The driver, a 46-year-old man and his female passenger – both NSW Ambulance paramedics – were not injured; however, the front windscreen of the vehicle sustained damage..
Police believe a rock was thrown from the overpass but a patrol around the area failed to locate any offenders.
Police are appealing for any information in relation to the incident to contact Tweed Heads Police or Crime Stoppers.
