Three male drivers were arrested more than three times over the limit in the Tweed-Byron area over just two days last week, police report.
About 4.30am on Tuesday, February 28, a tow truck was called to Skinners Shoot Road, Byron Bay after reports car had hit an embankment.
A 28-year-old male was found passed out in the driver’s seat.
Police were called and the driver underwent a roadside breath test with a positive result.
The man was arrested and taken to Byron Bay Police Station where a showed reading of .153
About 12.53am the same day, police patrolling Jonson Street, Byron Bay saw a car driving without the headlights on.
The car was stopped and the 26-year-old male driver from Byron Bay blew a positive breath test. He was arrested and taken to Byron Bay Police Station where a reading of .178 was obtained.
Both men were charged with high-range drink driving and bailed to appear before Byron Bay Local Court on March 16.
About 10.55pm on Wednesday, March 1, police noticed a car driving in the breakdown lane of the Pacific Motorway at Tweed Heads.
The car was stopped and the 42-year-old male driver from Parkwood, Qld, blew a positive alcohol reading. He arrested and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where he registered .153.
The man was charged with high-range drink driving and bailed to appear before Tweed Heads Local Court on March 20.
