A restricted, but nonetheless successful, 2020 netball season is coming to an end – but without a finals series for the Byron Brunswick Netball Association Incorporated.
‘Owing to COVID-19 restrictions we will not have the traditional award ceremony, or be able to invite all to our games,’ club president Robyn Venn said.
The season started at the end of July and will finish this coming weekend for senior and junior divisions, except for Net Set Go juniors, who finished up last weekend.
‘Our representative teams have participated in local carnivals but were withdrawn from both junior and senior State Championships that were scheduled for October, but have since been cancelled,’ she said.
‘Five of our 17 and Under members have achieved their C Badge in umpiring during the season.’
To get the season underway the BBNAI worked with Netball NSW and the Department of Health to introduce a range of COVID-19 safety measures, including appointing a safety officer, restricting entry and exit from the courts, and restricting spectators
‘All members and players will receive a special medallion to mark their participation and commitment to netball during what has been a challenging and ever changing time,’ Robyn said.
‘As in the past, BBNAI have worked as a team in the true spirit of the game to create and maintain a safe and positive environment for all members to enjoy their netball experience.’
