Having just read in The Daily Telegraph of the approval of Harvest Byron Bay’s 149 lots, I am shocked the opportunity to build an estate that was environmentally sound has been sorely missed.
Councils across the Northern Rivers need to make developers include recycled/grey water, water tanks, and homes that blend with their environment as well as being six star energy rated.
It really saddens me that these prime opportunities are being missed by our councils to have developers build housing that leaves little impact on the environment.
Developers also miss out by not linking the housing estate back to the history of the land on which they are building, this means both First Nations and European.
As usual, developers want the highest amount of money for what they are building, none seem to be building homes that are affordable for first home buyers.
