A friend pointed out to me that my letter to The Echo dated January 26 edition made it appear that I was being anti-Semitic. To begin, I’m not! My first friend while growing up in McKinnon, Melbourne, was Jewish.
During my turbulent teenage years I worked in the fashion industry with a Jewish boss. This man supported me and helped me through a very difficult time, and I have never forgotten him. I have many Jewish friends, and not having a good family life myself I envy the unity and the family life that I have seen over the years in the Jewish community.
It is Zionism I protest against.
I support Michael Ryan’s (Echonetdaily January 22) re Palestine-Israel. I agree with everything he has written: simple, but true.

For four decades The Echo has printed the stories some people loved, some people hated, and some pretended not to read. If you want us to keep telling the truth, the real truth, not the sugar-coated version. We’ll need your support to keep the presses rolling.
