In what is rumoured to be an indefinite closure, motorists have been advised that Terania Street, Lismore, will be closed to all traffic between Tweed and Peate streets from 7pm today as a result of damage to a rail bridge.

Transport for NSW says that recent inspections identified damage to the non-operational rail-over-road bridge and further inspections will be required to determine necessary repairs and to ensure the road can be reopened to motorists safely.
Road users are advised that Terania Street will remain closed to all vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists until further investigation and repair work can be carried out, with a timeframe for this still to be determined.
Detours in place
Detour routes will be in place while investigations and repair work are carried out – a detour for all vehicles is available via Wilson Street, Elliott Road and Ballina Road.
Light vehicles can access Bridge and Terania streets via Dawson and Woodlark streets, which are not suitable for heavy vehicles. Motorists should allow up to 10 minutes extra travel time.
A detour for pedestrians and cyclists is available from Terania Street via Pine, Crane and Tweed streets.
Heavy and light vehicle drivers should plan their journey and allow extra travel time, drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
Transport for NSW say they want to thank the community for its patience during this time.
