Fawcett Street and Fawcett Park will have sections temporarily close tomorrow Thursday 7 December 2023, to reinstall steel sculptures within the park.
‘The public artwork, which are the steel sculptures sitting atop poles in Fawcett Park, have been repaired,’ said a spokesperson for Ballina Shire Council.
A crane will be used to install the sculptures, which will require the temporary closure of sections of Fawcett Street and Fawcett Park, including the playground. The crane will be operating from 7am, and it is expected that work will be completed by 10.30am.
Access to sections of Fawcett Park, including the playground, will be restricted at times.
Traffic will be detoured via Cherry Street and Moon Street, with vehicle access maintained for residents and businesses, including deliveries where possible.
The riverfront pathway will also be closed at various locations as the sculptures are moved into place.
Pedestrian access on the footpath adjacent to businesses will not be obstructed. However, traffic controllers will help pedestrians if required.
