I see one very progressive council in Victoria will introduce 24-hour cat containment requirements this year.
We all know about the damage roaming cats visit upon our wildlife, and yet Byron Shire Council still advocates for an ‘education’ approach. Many cat owners are responsible but from my observations in the Byron Shire there are many more that aren’t.
It appears that most cat owners cannot believe that their beautiful moggie would rip the life out of a bandicoot or bettong. So in the interests of progress how about some carrot (education) and some stick (containment)?
