A man will appear in court today charged over the alleged armed robbery of chemist in Kyogle.

Just after 12.30pm on Tuesday (9 April 2024), a man entered a chemist on Summerland Way, Kyogle, and spoke with staff before allegedly producing a knife and threatening an employee, demanding prescription medication.

The armed man fled from the store with medication and police were notified.

Officers from Richmond Police District attended and commenced an investigation into the incident.

No one was physically injured in the incident.

Just before 7pm, emergency services were called to Kyogle Road, Lillian Rock, where a 41-year-old man was located.

He was arrested and taken to Lismore Base Hospital, under police guard.

Upon his discharge today (Wednesday 10 April 2024), the man was escorted to Lismore Police Station where he was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon.

He has been refused bail to appear at Lismore Local Court today (Thursday 11 April 2024).
