
A Northern Rivers man wanted for arrest and an officer trying to arrest him are both in hospital after a disastrous encounter in the early hours of the morning.
Richmond Police reported on Monday that two officers had gone to a home on Shearman Drive, Goonellabah, around 1.30am after receiving information a man wanted on an outstanding warrant was there.
The officers said the accused 28-year-old man tried to evade them by climbing to the roof, before falling from a gutter.
He was arrested and taken to Lismore Police Station NSW Ambulance paramedics ended up taking him to Lismore Base Hospital with a suspected broken leg.
Police said he was still in hospital under police guard.
Meanwhile, a male officer is in the same hospital and expected to undergo surgery.
Police said he suffered a cut to his right arm trying to get into the Shearman Drive property.
A 19-year-old woman at the same property was also arrested on outstanding warrants.
She was refused bail and was due to appear before Lismore Local Court later today, Monday 15 July.
