One of the biggest challenges for the Northern Rivers, and in fact the state, is getting qualified people to come on board for building projects. This has been highlighted by a recent study that looks at the ‘most in-demand trades’ for Ballina and see eight of the top ten jobs are building related.
Utilising internet search numbers, new research from BizCover, the online business insurance company, identifies Ballina’s most in-demand trades, uncovering where demand for these skills is highest.
‘The people of Ballina are most likely to seek the services of electricians with a staggering 1,672 annual searches per 100,000 people. Followed by the carpenter trade, with 686 searches while landscaper round out the top three, generating 643 searches,’ said BizCover in a recent press release.
Number four on the list was painter followed by roofer, concreter, builder, plasterer, tiler and cleaner rounding out the tenth position.
‘Interestingly, it’s regional towns, not big cities, that show the highest demand per capita for tradies, fuelled by ageing infrastructure and the challenges of dispersed populations,’ Sharon Kenny, Head of Marketing at BizCover said.
