Police say they’ve extradited and charged a man over the alleged fatal assault of another man in Tweed Heads last week.
Emergency services were called to William Street at Tweed Heads South in response to an assault around 3.15am on Sunday 24 November.
Attending officers found an unconscious man lying on the ground outside a home.
Police say paramedics tried to help the man but he died at the scene.
He has since been identified as a 39-year-old Tweed Heads man.
Subsequent investigations with the help of Queensland Police have led to the arrest of a 48-year-old man in Kirra, Queensland.
Police arrested the accused man around 3.30am Saturday 30 November before taking him to Southport, Queensland, where he was extradited to NSW and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station.
He’s charged with assault causing death and has had bail refused in the leadup to a scheduled court appearance on 9 December.
