Last Thursday saw the women of Mullumbimby come together to share their stories of women who inspired them.
From mothers to poets to singers and those individuals who just got things done – the stories of the women and their lives who have inspired the speakers was heartwarming.
Mullumbimby High School Captain Monet Shortland recited part of the poem We Rise by Amanda Gorman that celebrates ‘Speaking our truth to power’ and that ‘We press for change’.
Charity bags
The Mullumbimby Chamber is also putting together charity bags for local women and are asking people to contribute items.
There are seven essential items that every bag should contain: shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap/body wash, roll-on deodorant, and period products. Everyone is encouraged to purchase a few of these items and drop them into the Mullumbimby Newsagency at 44 Burringbar Street, Mullumbimby where they can be made up and distributed to women in need.

For four decades The Echo has printed the stories some people loved, some people hated, and some pretended not to read. If you want us to keep telling the truth, the real truth, not the sugar-coated version. We’ll need your support to keep the presses rolling.
