Take sanctuary at this year’s Byron Writers Festival

Thirty years and a stellar lineup is coming your way with this year’s Byron Writers Festival,14–16 August.

The gin garden at the Ocean Shores Tavern hits the spot this summer!

If you’re sliding into Christmas with full ‘I’m not cooking another damn thing’ energy, The Tav is ready for you. Summer at Ocean Shores Tavern is built for keeping life easy. No prep, no dishes, no hosting panic. Just breezy afternoons, cold drinks and food that hits the spot every single time.

Out back, our big sunny deck looks straight over the green and somehow always catches the perfect sea breeze. Inside, the air con is humming, the beers are frosty, the cocktails are dangerously drinkable and the whole place has that relaxed holiday vibe where shoulders drop and time slows down.

Feeding the herd? Our Meat + Mingle Burger Bar & Smokehouse is your summer lifesaver, serving lunch and dinner seven days a week. Expect stacked burgers, slow-smoked meats, and crunchy fried snacks you’ll end up guarding with your life, fresh salads for when you’re trying to be good and kids’ meals even the fussiest small humans will demolish. It is the ultimate fix for anyone refusing to turn the oven on until February.

Parents, this is your moment. Our fully-fenced playground means the kids run wild while you enjoy something cold and delicious. And if you feel like stirring up some friendly rivalry, the pool tables are always ready for a showdown.

Got family in town and absolutely no desire to host again? Our BBQ packs are your cheat code. We prep all the marinated meats and sides so it feels like a backyard party minus the work. Grill together in the riverside beer garden or hire one of our chefs to cook the whole feast while you entertain and take the credit.

And when New Year’s Eve wraps and you wake up needing shade, greasy food and a strong Bloody Mary, our New Year’s Day Come Down Backyard Bash is your reset. Sunshine, rugs on the grass, bangin’ tunes, smash burgers, lawn games and maybe a cheeky water pistol fight.

This summer, take the easy road – start holiday mode at The Tav.
