More than a third of offences recorded as part of arrests in the Richmond Police District in the week ending 11 February were domestic violence related.
Domestic violence was related to the top four most common offences recorded across the district, which includes Lismore, Ballina, Lismore and surrounds.
Officers said they charged 44 people with a combined 103 offences, 35% of them domestic violence related, in the days from 5-11 February.
Apprehended Violence Order breaches, or ‘contravening a prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic)’, was the most common offences, recorded against eleven people.
Six people was charged for assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV), making it the district’s second most common offence along with common assault.
The third most common offence was for stalking and/or intimidation with intent to cause fear of physical harm and/or other harm (domestic), with five people charged.
There were also five people charged for possession of a prohibited drug.
Four officers involved in restraint of woman in Lismore
Police said four officers were involved in restraining a 45-year-old woman accused of domestic violence assault and resisting police arrest in Lismore on 8 February.
The woman is alleged to have punched her son‑in‑law during an argument, causing minor bruising, before resisting arrest, pulling away, dropping to the ground, and kicking officers as they attempted to take her into custody.
Officers said she tried to pull away again while being escorted out of the residence.
Police said they laid charges and she was due to appear before the Lismore Local Court on 18 February 2026.
