A truck fire on the motorway at Knockrow, near Newrybar, has hampered traffic, with big delays heading north.

Reports of a truck on fire on the northbound side of the M1 at Knockrow were received by emergency services at around 3.57am today.
Traffic was backed up for almost two kilometres as the highway was reduced to one lane. A crane is currently removing the wreckage and the clean-up, which is expected to continue into the afternoon, got underway.

People can avoid the accident by taking Alcorn Road to Newrybar from the junction with Ross Lane, or the old highway on the eastern side of the motorway, past the Macadamia Castle/Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital.
