
After running community food programs in Nimbin and other rural towns, Mullum local Kiwa Stevenson and his daughter Mili have partnered with Santos, taking over the kitchen and cafe in Mullum.
They had just started a two-year lap of the country, when they were approached by Santos management during their Bangalow pop up. ‘It’s a heart project’ Kiwa says. ‘And there was awesome synergy with Santos and their social enterprise ethic’
Led by directors Kiwa, Mili, and Sarah, the project ‘Maintaining Eden’ operates with a “profit for purpose” model, to support those battling mental health and doing it tough.
The menu is built on a philosophy of ‘food as medicine’. Organic botanical diversity and “living” ferments, utilising the commercial kitchen and cafe with plans to open up the back garden as a high vibe community hub. They have plans for local live music and community workshops.
