Byron Shire Council claims ‘tight budget restraints from road, drainage and waste management’ as the reason for rate rises.
This shouldn’t surprise anyone, considering it takes this Council 12 months to build a roundabout (on Bayshore Drive), when the average time across the EU, USA and Canada for roundabout construction is between two weeks and two months – depending on the scale of the project.
Even in bureaucratic Australia, the average time for roundabout construction is three months.
Then there’s Asian nations that can build a roundabout in days, usually overnight, with minimal disruption to traffic.
I dare say, most of Byron Shire Council’s budget is spent on waste (with little management)?
