JAM is a neighbourhood event showcasing incredible local DJs and raising money for local charities.
Each JAM is held in a different town and at a different venue across the Northern Rivers.
A JAM party will be your classic Sunday session with funky house tracks, smooth vocals and friendly energy. JAM is for everyone to come as they are and celebrate our diverse and fabulous community. There is no better way to finish your weekend than jamming on the dance floor to great tunes, with old and new friends.
The very first JAM party will be held on Sunday at Wandana Brewing Co in Mullumbimby.
The next JAM will be held a few months later, aiming to bring future JAM events to other local venues, support other local charities and profile DJs from that neighbourhood to headline the Sunday session.
Sunday’s JAM event will feature legendary local DJs Abel Toro and on vinyl DJ Inch. They will be supported on the decks by JAM resident DJs, and organisers, GI Jode and Peppin, who live in Ocean Shores.
The aim of the JAM events is to cover costs and raise money for a local charity. The neighbourhood DJs, local photographer, security and staff will be paid for their talent and time. The JAM Sounds crew, including resident DJs GI Jode and Peppin are donating their time.
They are thrilled to be supporting local charity Queer Family for the first JAM – organisers have a great understanding and appreciation of the important services and support that Queer Family provide.
The support comes at a time when Queer Family continues its search for a permanent home after losing their home base in the 2022 floods, and recent challenges forced the organisation to scale back some programs.
Despite these hurdles, Queer Family remains an important source of connection, belonging and support for many people across the region.
Attendees will be encouraged to donate to Queer Family via QR codes on posters around the Wandana Brewery. After event costs are covered, JAM Sounds will donate any additional funds from ticket sales to Queer Family. The more tickets purchased, the greater the support that can be provided to Queer Family.
Resident JAM DJs GI Jode (Jodie Wilkins) and Peppin (Warren Peppin), along with their partners Amber and Andrew are organising the event and future JAMs.
