Following on the success of last weekend’s CSG-free communities event at Eltham Pub, with Eltham, Clunes, Numulgi-Woodlawn, Booyong and Bexhill all declaring themselves gasfield-free communities, nearby villages in the Ballina shire are quickly playing catch-up
The Brooklet Fernleigh Newrybar Group (BFNG) is inviting residents of those three villages plus Pearces Creek to attend a public meeting to hear about CSG mining and its potential effects and to vote on whether they want their localities to join the growing list of northern rivers CSG-free communities.
The meeting will be held on Sunday October 7 at Newrybar Hall from 2 to 4pm. There will be speakers and a short film shown. The aim is to gain consensus to survey the entire community and if a majority of residents are in favour, declare Brooklet Fernleigh Newrybar CSG free.
