At its core, making art is an act of love.
That it survives in a cynical age is because those who pursue it do so with integrity, tenacity and healthy single-mindedness.
Profoundly affected by the suicide of a long-time surfing buddy, local filmmaker Darius Devas, with a high-speed HD video camera strapped to his board, sought solace in the swell. The result is a short movie of elegiac but uplifting beauty. Complementing the main work, Creating is, in its own way, even more intimate for the direct contact with Darius that it provides. Taken as a whole, it is an inspiring achievement.
If you’re quick you’ll catch it at the Lounge Cinema.
