Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.
Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.

Dame Mandy doesn’t sound quite right. May have to be a little more formal. Maybe Dame Amanda!
I still feel we should have our Aussie feel to these things. How much better than ‘Dame Mandy’ is ‘Top Sheila’ Mandy or Top Bloke General Peter Cosgrove. Straight away you can see how ludicrous Top Bloke Tony would be whereas Top Sheila Quentin Bryce would be, most likely, quite acceptable to our former GG. Just saying.
Way to go Tone! Now you’ve reduced cleaner’s wages, the upper class will be better able to afford their serfs and lackeys! More ermine cloaks all round!
Dame Mandy – with humble respect – a point you (and seems everyone else in Australia) has missed: Tony-Yabbott (usually said as one word by the masses) was born in England (that, in itself, should have eliminated any possibility of one such as he becoming prime minister of Australia). However, it does explain to me how obviously he sees himself becoming Sir Abbott, I would submit, a major reason why he considers it a No. 1 priority to recreate the aristocracy. His personal agenda reeks.
