Rebuilding communities from Lennox and Evans Head to Coraki and Woodburn

In February and March 2022, our region was subject to a series of weather events that causeed one of the nation’s worst recorded flood disasters. The economic impact of a natural disaster can be felt far beyond the damage to housing and infrastructure.

Some spending cannot be questioned

The euphemisms were flying when Australia's Defence Minister Richard Marles announced last week that an extra $50 billion would be spent on our military over the next decade, and that $72.8 billion of already announced spending would be redirected.

So lovely to see all the gorgeous and healthy babies on the front page of The Echo this week.

With less than half of all young children in Mullumbimby fully immunised and having the lowest vaccination rate in Australia, I hope at least some of these babies will be immunised.

It’s obvious that the non vaccinators have never watched a baby die of whooping cough, cared for a disabled polio sufferer or had an immuno-suppressed family member or friend.

Kudos to the AVN for changing their misleading name to the more honest, Australian Vaccination Sceptics Network.

Blessing from a home birthing, extended breast-feeder, co-sleeping, vegan mother of four.

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.

  1. It’s obvious vaccination supporters have never seen a child suffer from vaccine injury, failure to thrive, develop Autism or die and even if it happened to your own child in front of your eyes, you would probably still deny it.

  2. Death or sickness from disease/ medical error/ vaccination reaction is a sad fact of life. We currently have a choice whether to vaccinate or not. However there is a huge push to make vaccination mandatory. In other words, we are to be told that we must have the ever-increasing list of vaccine products (new vaccines and new boosters) from the Pharma industry. Those behind the push are the Pharma industry and the media. Interestingly there are strong commercial links between the Pharma and media industries.

Fortunately, although relatively unreported by the media, the Pharma industry is being exposed. Japan, for example has recently stopped recommending the HPV vaccination due to public and scientific alarm at the rate of adverse reactions. Further the flu vaccines have been exposed by the reputable Cochrane collaboration.

I remember the days (some 55 years ago) when mothers would commonly expose their young to measles, mumps and chickenpox to get them out of the way before the children were older as the diseases were worse in older people. That’s how you got longterm immunity in those days.

As parents, we are happy with our choice not to vaccinate, and all our children are healthy. We hope that our children will also have the right to choose whether to vaccinate or not.

  3. In the recent years this debate has really been garnering steam hasn’t it? I don’t want to put my views out in public for the world to see, but I do think that it’s important that proper arguments for both sides need to be presented.
