Homicide detectives are investigating the ‘unexpected’ deaths of two elderly women at a nursing home in Ballina.
A NSW Police spokesperson told Echonetdaily that nursing home staff discovered the two women, aged 77 and 82, unconscious in their beds on Saturday May 10 .
Police and emergency services were called but both women were pronounced dead prior to their arrival.
‘Given the unexpected nature of both deaths police are conducting an investigation on behalf of the coroner,’ the spokesperson said.
Police have not released the name of the nursing home.
Detectives from the homicide squad and the Richmond Local Area Command are involved in the investigation.
