The Brisbane-based Rackley Swim Squad is holding a training camp at Mullumbimby Pool this week as they prepare for the World Championship trials in April.

The ‘exciting swim team includes our next generation of stars,’ according to pool manager Craig Davidson.

Among them is former Byron Shire local Tristan Ludlow who has competed at the Australian Junior Worlds, as well as the Youth Commonwealth Games and World Cups.

Other swimmers include: Louis Townsend (Australian Junior Pan Pacific team and Australian Youth transition squad), Eliza King (National Champion and Australian Junior Pan Pacific team), Layla Lumley (Queensland State teams) and Kirrily Siebentausend (Australian Junior Pan Pacific team).

‘The swimmers are working on making the next step in transition from the Australian Youth teams to the open level of competition,’ Craig said.

‘The Mullumbimby Pool was a good spot for the camp as it was not far from home, relatively secluded, and was close enough to the beach to allow ocean swim sessions’, Rackley Swim Squad head coach Damien Jones said.

‘Tristan is from here, and I also know Craig,’ he said.

The training camp is about results and performance and getting things done without distraction. It is also about bonding.

‘We can be secluded in our own blue bubble,’ Damien said.

‘The squad will also take in extra activities like yoga while they are here’, he said.

The squad will train early in the morning and late each evening this week.
