Ballina MP Tamara Smith (Greens) was joined by a household name and new North Coast resident at the official opening of the Ballina Tennis Club extension on Sunday.
Ms Smith said she was ‘delighted to meet former world number one singles player Pat Rafter for morning tea and together officially open the extension to the Ballina Tennis Club’.
‘The extension and ramps will enable more members of our community to participate in events at the Ballina Tennis Club. I was able to facilitate $17,000 for disabled ramps and $21,000 for the extension through the NSW Government Community Building Partnerships Fund. The total cost of the project was $287,000.
‘I wish Ballina Tennis Club and its members all the best in their new facility,’ Ms Smith. said
Word has it Pat stayed behind after the official opening for hits and giggles with the club’s younger members.
