In last week’s letters there were laments about changes to The Echo’s masthead, some of them from former drudges. As a former drudge, editor and current minor shareholder I know that part of The Echo has always been about experimentation – mostly with wine varieties – and I welcome that.
I also welcome the addition of images of community events to the masthead. This creates a constantly changing tableau, which is pretty much the state of news media these days.

For four decades The Echo has printed the stories some people loved, some people hated, and some pretended not to read. If you want us to keep telling the truth, the real truth, not the sugar-coated version. We’ll need your support to keep the presses rolling.
