Rinat Strahlhofer – Northern Rivers for Safe Technology, Ewingsdale
Dear Community Members,
After some reflection, I would like to share my experience on Monday at the Lennox Head 5G upgrade site…
Despite speaking with police and explaining community concerns around untested and experimental 5G infrastructure, the police were given orders to pave the way for the cherry picker to enter, forcibly moving protestors who were locking arms out of the way, so the technicians could commence work on the 5G upgrade at the water tank site.
It was devastating to witness the force of corporate powers over the people at the site yesterday.
As an Admin for the Northern Rivers for Safe Technology group, I would like to state that the purpose of this page is an educational portal first and foremost and a platform to engage in non-violent discourse and direct action. As members, we must unite as advocates for Safe Technology, not experimental technology that is proven to harm.
What we can all do now, is keep calling on our constituents to take the ‘Precautionary Approach’ until Telstra can prove safety. We can educate and inspire positive behaviour change with technology use. We can even lobby for a solution: Fibre Optics doesn’t need more mobile phone base stations to be built and it is faster, safer and more secure than 5G.
Please be aware, that still to this day there is no agency measuring the cumulative impacts of wireless radiation in our communities. Studies even show children absorb twice the radiation than an adult, so it’s no surprise that the majority of brave people that showed up to the water tank yesterday, did so for their children and grandchildren.
Moving forward, I believe we must meet in a place of respectful discourse so that each of us may feel inspired to support each other and the wider group – there will always be a next time when it comes to each of us choosing to show up and stand-up.
