Mandy Nolan’s Soapbox: Shopping Centres Scare Me

I feel trapped. There isn’t a single time I attend where I don’t check my proximity to the exits, or imagine what I’d do if there was a fire, or worse, a shooter. The sense of being enclosed is unnatural, I can’t tell what time of day it is, I lose my sense of direction. It’s designed to be disorienting. It feels otherworldly. And never in a good way. Hello Barnaby Joyce MP, I am an ordinary person shopping at IGA and I do care about the fact that Mr Morrison secretly swore himself into multiple ministries. He did this over many months, keeping the Cabinet, who are supposed to be governing the country, completely in the dark.

Yes, I do care. A lot.

No, Simon Birmingham MP (ABC interview 25 August), the review into the multiple ministries Scott Morrison secretly swore himself into is not just about looking for lessons for the future. It’s about taking responsibility. And holding people accountable is not ‘trashing’ them, it is holding them accountable for their actions in public office. Essential surely.

And your interview very carefully underplayed responsibility. It doesn’t look like a ‘mistake’; it looks like secret deliberate power grabs by Morrison. He found after he did it he could do it with Health, then like a greedy child, grabbed more and more.
