
The Murwillumbah Philharmonic Society Choir is delighted to present ‘Ceremony of Song’ in Lismore. The concert features works by Benjamin Brittern, John Rutter, J S Bach, Percy Grainger and modern composers such as Bill Douglas.
This variety concert shows the diversity of the choir presenting music from the Renaissance to the 21st Century. Included in the choir’s presentation is an organ solo and a cello solo.
Murwillumbah Philharmonic Choir is a community-based choir. The first choir began in 1923, the second resumed in the 60s after pausing for WWII and then again with the advent of television, the third choir reformed in 1979 and completed its 40th Anniversary Concert in November 2019.
The choir presented its 100 Years concert in 2023.
The ‘Philos’
The ‘Philos’ rehearses weekly during NSW school term. It comprises 47 members of sopranos, altos, tenors and basses. As a choir, they are fortunate to have the support of several musically trained members who can conduct and sing.
