The Byron Writers Festival has announced submissions open until the end of the month for the 2025 Student Writing Prizes.
Oranisers say the awards celebrate young creative voices of the Northern Rivers.
‘We’re looking for original, engaging works from young storytellers,’ they say.There are three student writing prizes:
- Southern Cross University Student Writing Prize for students in years 9–12;
- Susie Warrick Young Writers Award for students in years 7 & 8;
- Jesse Blackadder Student Writing Prize for students in years 4–6.
Entrants must live ‘within the Byron Writers Festival footprint,’ say organisers.
This is defined as from Taree in the south to Kyogle in the west and Tweed Heads in the north.
Winners are to receive cash prizes, Byron Writers Festival passes and publishing opportunities.
Applications are open until 30 June, 2025.
