NSW Police say a man has died after a single-vehicle crash at Banora Point.
About 11.30am yesterday, Monday, August 25, emergency services responded to reports that a car had crashed at an aged-care facility on Leisure Drive, Banora Point.
Officers from Tweed/Byron Police District attended the scene and were told a vehicle, driven by an 83-year-old man who was the sole occupant, had hit a pole before continuing through a fence.
NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and treated the man for serious injuries; however, he died at the scene. No one else was injured.
A crime scene has been established and inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are underway.
A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
