The federal Labor government say it is investing $2 million to support Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital deliver life-saving care to sick, injured, and orphaned native wildlife on the NSW North Coast.
In a media release by local federal MP Justine Elliot, she says, the commitment, made by the Albanese Labor Government during the 2025 election campaign, will help staff to treat and rehabilitate native animals.
‘This funding is expected to support around 4,000 animals, while keeping skilled veterinarians and vet nurses employed’.
‘Since 2020, the Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital, which is a registered business of Wildlife Recovery Australia, has delivered quality care to more than 10,000 wildlife patients.
‘This is part of the Australian Government’s Local Environmental Projects Program that is protecting and improving our environment and heritage’.
